In the Lanka war, Brahmaji asked Shri Ram to worship the goddess Chandi for the position of Ravana and please the goddesses. According to the method, arrangements were made for the rare 108 indigo lotus flowers for Chandi Puja and for Havan.
On the other hand Ravana started reciting Chandi for nectar. Indradev conveyed this to Shri Ram through the wind. Here Ravana, with the elusive force, made one of the Neel lotus flowers disappear from the Havan material at the place of worship, so that the worship of Shri Ram should be stopped. Shri Ram’s resolve was seen breaking. Everyone was afraid that Maa Durga might not get angry.
That’s when Shri Ram remembered that Kamalnayan is also called Navkanchalochan, only then he thought of dedicating one eye to the worship of his mother. As soon as Shri Ram wanted to remove his eyes from Tudir, then Mother Durga appeared and mother said that she was pleased with the worship and blessed Vijayshree.
On the other hand Hanuman took the form of a tour and got digested there. A verse from the tours being worshiped “Jyadevibhuteharani“
Instead of “Harni” the word “Karni” was pronounced.
Harni means to cause pain to the devotee.
Karni means suffering dinner.
On this Maa Durga got angry and cursed Ravana to be annihilated.
According to this story, Mahisasur was pleased with his worship and the gods gave him victory. After receiving this boon, Mahishasura started misusing him. He extended the hell to the gate of heaven.
Mahishasura also took away the rights of Surya, Chandra, Agni, Indra, Vayu, Yama, Varuna and other gods. He has become the master of heaven. All the deities had to come to earth in fear of Mahishasura.
Then enraged by Mahishasura’s misadventure, he created the deities Maa Durga. In order to kill Mahishasura, all the gods dedicated their weapons to Goddess Durga. She became strong and fought with Mahishasura for 9 days. In the end, after killing Mahishasura, Mother Durga was called Mardani.
